I hold a 1st Class Degree in Mathematics from UCL, and a PGCE in Mathematics with Numeracy from The Institute of Education, UCL. I spent 20 years working in Engineering and teaching Further Education Mathematics, taking a career break to raise my son, but was drawn back to tutoring through helping him develop his love of maths and science.
I have tutored primary and secondary students from schools across North London, including Fortismere, Latymer, Dame Alice Owen’s, St Mary Magdalene Academy, worked for Virtual Schools and Alternative Provision across the South East, as well as the National Tutoring Programme.
I enjoy giving back to my local community and volunteer as a maths tutor for The Access Project; offering one-to-one tuition for GCSE and A Level students, for whom it would otherwise not be affordable.
I have a current DBS certificate.

I approached Clare for help with my son’s Secondary School 11+ entrance exams and she has been amazing! Clare’s lessons have been engaging and she adapts to my son’s learning styles, which really helps keep his attention, and has increased his confidence when working on non-verbal and spatial reasoning.
During the two years that Clare successfully taught our son the A level maths curriculum, she was
completely thorough and conscientious in her work. Clare was a vital part of our
son’s Education, Care and Health Plan (EHCP) and provided the A level maths home education which he
was unable to access through mainstream schooling.
Claire was just what my daughter needed. She analysed the holes in her learning, built her confidence and helped her practice key concepts until they became second nature – exactly what we needed. I am very grateful for her help.
Clare is an amazing tutor who really knows her subject and has the patience, skills and personality to help those who are struggling as well as those who are good at maths and want to become better.
We are really pleased with the results and thank you once again for your work with J, not only did you bring him up to the required standard for 6th form but also gave him the confidence to succeed.
Our daughter went from a predicted 6 to achieve a grade 8. Clare was always patient and kind, and helped her to grow in confidence.
